The Conservatory provides students with the vehicle, the ensemble, the space, the instruction of dedicated professionals and the audience so that they may discover and learn in an atmosphere that reflects a professional working environment. In this unique training environment students are free to take chances and test themselves.
Specifically, the goals of our training are:

1. The actor must come to understand the use of his most important instruments - the body, the voice and, most importantly, the mind.

2. Development of dramatic control, by the actor, over his physical and vocal dynamics allows them to be used as his own unique set of acting tools.

3. Concentration (living in the moment) and discipline (staying there) are skills that must be developed carefully and diligently. Very few of us, actors especially, have these as innate abilities.

4. The environment and the atmosphere must nurture the would be actor's own creative individuality.

5. Physical acting, body and movement awareness allows the actor to develop his body as, at the same time, he is learning these critically important techniques and skills needed to perform.
6. Script Analysis skills allow the actor to find the throughline, learn the character spine and uncover the intentions that can be hidden to the novice.

7. Technical literacy is an absolute necessity that can be elusive to those without the necessary concentration and discipline of the true professional.
8. Self-confidence and a positive self image allow the actor to perserveer during lean times and shine when the spotlight reaches the deserving actor.

9. Cooperative work to develop the ability to work with others allows the actor to become dedicated to the success of the total performance.

10. In becoming a working actor, exposure to a broad range of dramatic literature and styles from classics to new works, broadens the body of work an actor is qualified to participate in.

11. The rehearsal process and repetition, under the guidance of acting professionals, yields technique, style, and substance that is honed and ready for the actor's world.

12. Being an actor without understanding the Business of acting can expose the actor to a bewildering world of contracts, agreements and situations with, seemingly, no path that serves his interests. The Conservatory's program provides a thorough understanding of the business aspects of a professional acting career.
13. The actor must audition in a variety of venues and in different media including camera and radio. At the end of the day, the audition stands between the actor and any job. The Conservatory curriculum affords students the time needed to master the critical tool of audition technique to assure that they are prepared for the professional world. As a matter of fact, audition prep and coaching is a service we continue to provide to our alumni. FOR FREE.
